Side Project – The (Unofficial) Alkaline Trio Coloring and Activity Book

Boasting original artwork and based on the band Alkaline Trio’s music and imagery, as well as its members, Matt Skiba, Dan Andriano, and Derek Grant, this coloring book was geared toward even the most casual Alkaline Trio fan. There are 13 different coloring and activity pages spanning every album, plus a front and back cover.

The original coloring book was a gift in a Secret Santa exchange, and was so well received that I started getting people asking me if they could buy one. So, I printed a bunch up and I sell them on Etsy.

Branding – BlackThorn Nitro Coffee

Fidalgo Coffee is a small, family-owned roastery who makes wonderful gourmet coffees. I was given creative freedom to manipulate and fix current labels, as well as create new labels for limited time offer products.

This is the original concept art for the BlackThorn flavor of Fidalgo’s line of Nitro Coffees.

**PLEASE NOTE** – The original BlackThorn Rabbit artwork is not my design, but it was purchased outright from the artist. My role was to take the artwork and come up with branded products.

BlackThorn Sell Sheet

Created for the sales team to bring to a food vendor conference, this sheet gave insight into the future flavors of Fidalgo Nitro Coffee and helped generate interest while explaining what Nitro Coffee is to people who had never had it before.

Originally BlackThorn was going to be only in kegs, but then someone wise told them to sell it in cans as well as kegs.

For the test batch of canned Nitro Coffee, I was asked to make a black and white label.

The directions I was given indicated the label size, the information that needed to be on it, and that they wanted a “woodsy-looking” label that included the rabbit that was initially adopted as the BlackThorn mascot.

Label Art – Custom Wedding Guest Gift

A coworker’s daughter was getting married, and she wanted to give coffee away to her wedding guests. My role was originally to turn the photo only into a label with no writing or anything. I have a little problem called “I can’t leave things alone and not throw some flair on it,” and this was the result. The bride loved it, and in turn, the coffee was well-received by her guests.

Label Art – The 12th Ounce

Fidalgo Coffee is a small, family-owned roastery who makes wonderful gourmet coffees. I was given creative freedom to manipulate and fix current labels, as well as create new labels for limited time offer products.

The 12th Ounce

Customers were requesting a sports-themed coffee, so why not deliver? The premise behind this label was to make it look “handmade,” hence the stamp-type font and basic design.

The 12th Ounce was picked up by a lot of places; here it is on display at one of the PCC Natural Markets in Seattle.

Label Art – Sheraton New Orleans

Fidalgo Coffee is a small, family-owned roastery who makes wonderful gourmet coffees. I was given creative freedom to manipulate and fix current labels, as well as create new labels for limited time offer products.

About This Custom Label

Fidalgo Coffee is served and sold at the highly acclaimed Sheraton on Canal Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. The restaurants located in/near the Sheraton on Canal Street in New Orleans serve Fidalgo’s coffee, and is so popular, customers started asking if they could take it home. Thusly, a label that captured both the colorful vibe of New Orleans and the laid-back attitude of the Pacific Northwest was created.

Advertising – Snohomish County Legal Dinner Benefit

I was asked to do some volunteer marketing consulting for Snohomish County Legal, a nonprofit organization who offers pro bono legal aid to people who are not able to afford it. Consulting led to doing all of the advertising graphic work for their upcoming dinner benefit, aptly named (and themed) Camp Justice.

This included a poster (below), social media banner, email banner, print ad, and invitations.
